The theater commenced operations on September 3, 1989, establishing itself as an integral part of the Bunkamura entertainment and cultural development project.
The venue focuses on presenting original art films and international productions, contributing to the cinematic diversity available in Tokyo's Shibuya district.
Due to renovation works, the theater remains closed from April 2023 until fiscal year 2027, with operations temporarily relocated to Cinema Shibuya Miyashita.
The theater maintains a programming schedule that differs from mainstream cinemas by selecting specific art films that appeal to dedicated film enthusiasts.
