Chichibu Bridge, Steel bridge in Chichibu City, Japan
The third-generation Chichibu Bridge spans 153 meters across the Arakawa River with a single-span steel box girder and cable-stayed structure.
Constructed in 1985, this bridge replaced two previous versions, with the first dating back to 1885 and the second completed in 1930.
The bridge earned the prestigious Tanaka Award from the Japan Society of Civil Engineers, recognizing its engineering excellence and structural design.
Located near Ohnohara Station, the bridge carries National Route 299 traffic while the second-generation structure now serves as a pedestrian walkway.
Stone monuments near the bridge preserve the memory of the first Chichibu Bridge, with two original piers still standing along the riverbank.
