Nyakutakuji, Former Buddhist temple in Matsumoto, Japan
The temple complex contains rows of Buddhist statues, including six figures near the entrance and additional statues scattered throughout the graveyard area.
Nyakutakuji Temple originated between 749 and 758 during the Nara period under Buddhist priest Gyoki and received ten koku territory from Matsumoto's feudal lord.
The temple houses a cabinet filled with shelves of carved figures representing Buddhist saints, devotees, and deities, including several golden statuettes.
Located ten minutes by foot from Matsumoto Station, the temple grounds offer visitors easy access to both religious structures and the adjacent Fukashi-jinja Shrine.
Near the temple stands a Japanese cedar tree called Shinobu-sugi, which according to local beliefs can hear and grant couples' marriage wishes.
