Sōun Museum of Art, Art and biographical museum in Ashikaga, Japan.

The Sōun Museum of Art displays paintings and personal belongings within a complex that includes a traditional thatched roof residence at the southern edge of Ashikaga Park.

Tazaki Sōun, who practiced Southern School painting from late Edo through Meiji period, became the first Imperial Household Artist, receiving recognition within Japan and internationally.

The museum preserves and exhibits the artistic legacy of Tazaki Sōun through collections that demonstrate the evolution of Japanese painting during the nineteenth century.

The museum operates from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with an entrance fee of 210 yen, located 8 minutes from Ashikagashi Station on the Tobu Isesaki line.

The museum grounds contain the preserved residence where Tazaki Sōun lived and created his paintings during the transformative period of Japanese art history.
