Château d'Hanazawa, Mountain fortress in Yaizu, Japan.
The castle extends across three districts: Takasaki, Yoshizu, and Noaki, with stone walls and moats spanning 450 meters north-south and 240 meters east-west.
In 1568, Imagawa Yoshimoto ordered Sekiguchi Echigo to construct this castle to control the route from Nihonzaka to Kosaka during the Sengoku period.
The castle grounds include an Inari shrine at the summit, featuring red torii gates and a sanctuary that connects the local religious practices with military heritage.
From Yaizu Station South Exit, visitors can take the Yaizu Loop Line bus to Takakusayama Ishiwaki entrance, followed by a 20-minute walk to reach the castle site.
The excavation of the main bailey and secondary enclosure in 2018 revealed data about the castle's construction methods and military strategies.
