花見山遺跡

The Hanamiyama archaeological site is located in Yokohama and contains multiple excavation areas with stone tools, pottery fragments, and residential structures from different periods. The location reveals the remains of settlements that developed over thousands of years.

Excavations conducted between 1977 and 1978 uncovered settlements spanning from the pre-pottery period through the Kofun period. The findings demonstrate how human settlement in this region evolved over many centuries.

The site displays pottery from the Jomon period marked by distinctive raised line patterns that became known as the Hanamiyama style. These decorative techniques show how early inhabitants expressed their craft traditions through their everyday objects.

The site can be located using the Cultural Properties WebGIS system managed by Yokohama City, which provides detailed archaeological information. Visitors should verify accessibility beforehand, as it remains an active research area.

Archaeologists discovered numerous hunting pit traps positioned outside the settlement area, indicating specialized hunting methods of early inhabitants. These structures reveal that people deliberately engineered traps to catch game.
