Zōzan Memorial Hall, Biographical museum in Matsushiro, Nagano, Japan.
The Zōzan Memorial Hall displays personal artifacts, writings, and scientific instruments that belonged to Zozan Sakuma, a nineteenth-century Japanese scholar and innovator.
Established in 1965, this museum chronicles the life of Zozan Sakuma, who introduced Western technologies to Japan before his death in 1864.
The museum exhibits demonstrate the integration of Western scientific knowledge with Japanese traditions during the final years of the Tokugawa period.
Located at 479-11 Matsushiromachi-Nishijo, the museum charges 250 yen for entry and remains open from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, except on Tuesdays.
The museum contains experimental telegraph equipment and artillery designs that Zozan Sakuma developed while studying Western military technology.
