Kaniman-ji, Buddhist temple in Kizugawa, Japan
The main hall of Kanimanji Temple contains a seated bronze Buddha statue measuring 2.4 meters in height and weighing two metric tons.
Founded in the late 7th century during the Hakuho period, Kanimanji Temple originally displayed architectural dimensions comparable to Yakushiji Temple in Nara.
The temple gained recognition through its connection to the Tale of the Grateful Crab story, which appears in the Konjaku Monogatari collection.
Visitors can access the temple from JR Tanakura Station by taxi in 6 minutes or walk 20 minutes, with opening hours from 8:00 to 16:00.
The national treasure Buddha statue within Kanimanji remains in its original position since the temple's foundation, confirmed through recent investigations.
