Tsūhō-ji, Former Buddhist temple in Habikino, Japan.

Tsūhō-ji is a former Buddhist temple in Habikino with remains including the Sanmon gate and shōryō bell tower standing in the Tsuboi neighborhood. The site preserves the layout of a significant medieval religious facility with stone structures and architectural features still visible today.

Minamoto no Yoriyoshi founded the temple in 1043 after discovering a life-sized statue of Senjū Kannon in the ruins of a burned hermitage. This discovery prompted the construction of a major religious facility for the Genji clan.

This temple served as a spiritual center for the Kawachi Genji clan, housing sacred images of Amida Nyorai and Senjū Kannon that connected the family to Buddhist teachings. Visitors today can sense how the site reflected the religious life and beliefs of the period.

The site is accessible by a 20-minute walk from Kaminotaishi Station on the Kintetsu Minami Osaka Line. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since the grounds are open and situated in a residential area of the city.

The grounds contain burial sites of Minamoto clan members and stone lanterns from the period when Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu oversaw the temple. These graves and stone structures offer glimpses into the family connections and leadership history of the place.
