Mount Iimori, Hilltop memorial site in Aizuwakamatsu, Japan.

Mount Iimoriyama rises 314 meters above Aizuwakamatsu city, featuring stone steps, monuments, and walking paths leading to its summit.

During the 1868 Boshin War, nineteen young Byakkotai samurai committed ritual suicide on this hill after mistakenly believing their castle had fallen.

The hill holds nineteen graves of the Byakkotai members, serving as a testament to the samurai values of loyalty and sacrifice in Japanese society.

Visitors can reach the summit either by climbing 183 stone steps or taking an escalator that costs 250 yen for adults and 150 yen for children.

The Sazaedo Temple on the northern slope features a distinctive double-helix structure where visitors ascend and descend on separate spiral ramps.
