Government of Takamatsu, Kagawa, Government office building in Takamatsu, Japan.
The Kagawa Prefectural Government Office features an eight-story main building and a two-story East Wing containing multipurpose halls for public gatherings.
The building, completed in 1958 under architect Kenzo Tange's direction, initiated a new era of modernist architecture in post-war Japan.
The first floor displays ceramic wall art by local artist Genichiro Inokuma, representing principles from Japanese tea ceremonies through geometric patterns.
The administrative center opens from 8:30 am to 5:15 pm on weekdays, offering visitor access to a free observation deck on the 21st floor.
The structure implements a 3-meter by 3-meter core system that eliminates the need for internal walls, creating uninterrupted spaces throughout the building.
