高松市立中央公园, Urban park in central Takamatsu, Japan.
The Central Park is a public green space in downtown Takamatsu with open lawns, walking paths, and varied recreational facilities shaded by mature trees. The grounds include tennis courts, basketball courts, and multiple rest areas with seating distributed throughout.
The land was secured through post-war land readjustment in 1946 and operated as a municipal baseball stadium until 1982. It then underwent transformation into a public park for general community use.
Three play sculptures by artist Isamu Noguchi are installed throughout the park's shaded play areas, creating unique spaces where children and adults interact with art. These installations shape how visitors experience and use the grounds.
The park is conveniently located near government offices and shopping districts, making it easy to reach on foot during a visit to downtown Takamatsu. The mature trees provide good shade throughout, though the grounds can get crowded on weekends.
In 2009, over 900 volunteers worked together in a community project to restore the main lawn area through collective planting efforts. This grassroots initiative demonstrates how important the space is to Takamatsu residents.
