Ryūbi-ji is a Buddhist temple in Sosa that houses a bronze statue of Yakushi Nyorai from the Hakuho period, along with the foundational base of a pagoda. The site displays architectural elements typical of early Japanese temple construction.
The temple was founded in 661 and became a major center for Shingon Buddhism. Archaeological work uncovered remnants of a three-story pagoda from 1377 that may have reached heights of around 33 meters.
The temple maintains strong connections to Shingon-shu Chisan-ha practices and serves as an educational center for over 200 Buddhist monks.
