Kagoshima Prefectural Yoshino Park

Kagoshima Prefectural Yoshino Park is an urban park set on a hillside with views of Sakurajima volcano, Kinko Bay, and Mount Kirishima. The site holds a large collection of trees and plants throughout its grounds with walking paths and observation points to explore.

Development of the park began during the 1960s as part of urban planning initiatives in the region. It was designed as a green space to bring nature and recreation closer to the growing city.

The park draws visitors each spring when different cherry tree varieties bloom at different times, creating a natural calendar of flowering throughout the season. People gather here to celebrate hanami traditions beneath the blossoms.

The park is accessible by bus from the city center and offers free entry with seasonal operating hours. The best time to visit is spring when cherry blossoms bloom, with paths and viewpoints accessible year-round.

A fountain in the park is positioned so that Sakurajima volcano appears framed by its water jets, creating a special photo opportunity. This deliberate design links the water feature with the city's natural landmark.
