Jōkōmyō-ji, Buddhist temple in Kamitatsuo-chō, Japan.

The temple grounds contain several buildings dedicated to religious functions, including the Miedo Hall and Amidado Hall for spiritual ceremonies.

Jōkōmyō-ji emerged in the 12th century through the efforts of Honen, who introduced Buddhist practices that made religious teachings accessible to regular citizens.

The temple features two distinct gardens: the historical Hojo Garden from the 1600s and the newer Yuzen Garden, both following Japanese landscaping principles.

The main buildings of Jōkōmyō-ji are free to enter, while garden access requires a small fee and follows specific schedules throughout the day.

Between the 17th and 19th centuries, this temple contained the largest bell in the world, which remains an essential element in religious ceremonies.
