Daikoku Bridge, Steel portal frame bridge in Chūō-ku, Japan
The Daikoku Bridge spans 30 meters across the Dotonbori River, featuring a steel portal frame construction with a width of 11.8 meters.
Initially constructed as a wooden bridge in 1615, measuring 42.7 meters in length and 2.4 meters in width, the structure underwent multiple reconstructions.
The bridge name changed from Namba Bridge to Daikoku Bridge in 1703, deriving from its connection to the Kizu Daikoku Shrine pathway.
The current bridge, designed by Katayama Stratech and completed in 2013, incorporates vehicle lanes and pedestrian walkways across its structure.
During the 1854 Ansei Nankai earthquake, the bridge blocked the Dotonbori River when tsunami waves struck, causing substantial flooding in the area.
