Dōtonbori Bridge

Dōtonbori Bridge crosses the Dotombori River and connects both sides of a major shopping and entertainment district in Osaka. The structure provides straightforward access to shops, restaurants, and venues spread across both sides of the waterway.

The bridge emerged during the Edo period when Osaka was becoming a major trading center and commerce thrived along the canal. It was built to join the rapidly growing business areas on both banks and make the flow of goods easier.

The Tombori River Walk beneath the bridge lets visitors explore waterfront restaurants and bars while watching boats move through the canal. This lower level offers a completely different view of the district compared to the busy streets above.
