Nabana no Sato, Botanical garden and theme park in Kuwana, Japan.
Nabana no Sato is a botanical garden and theme park in Kuwana that covers more than 43,000 square meters (over 463,000 square feet) and holds more than 12,000 begonias along with seasonal flower beds displaying tulips, nemophila, cosmos, and dahlias. Paths lead through the grounds past several greenhouses, restaurants, and an observation tower, allowing visitors to move between different themed areas.
The grounds opened in 1998 as a garden project designed by architect Ken Nakajima, who combined traditional Japanese design principles with modern landscape techniques. Over time, the site expanded to include additional areas and seasonal light installations, drawing visitors even outside the main flowering periods.
The park hosts annual illumination festivals during winter months, transforming gardens into light installations with a 200-meter tunnel of LED lights and water-based displays.
Admission costs 2,300 yen and includes a 1,000-yen voucher that can be used at the restaurants and shops on site. The pathways are mostly level and pass through open areas as well as covered walkways, making a visit possible even in changing weather.
In winter, the gardens turn into an installation with a 200-meter (around 660-foot) LED tunnel and several water-based light displays that draw crowds well beyond the flowering season. The observation tower reaches a height of 45 meters (roughly 150 feet) and offers a view over the entire Nagashima Resort area, revealing the outline of the park from above.
