Anan city hall

Anan City Hall is a modern six-story building with large windows and over 20,000 square meters of floor space. It contains administrative offices, public meeting spaces, and areas designed for different municipal services.

Completed in 2017, the building marks a turning point in Anan's development from a fishing village into an industrial hub in Tokushima Prefecture. Its design reflects this transformation into a more modern town.

The Anan Forum inside serves as a gathering spot where residents and officials come together for community discussions. Local events and meetings held here reflect what matters to people living in the city.

Different administrative services are located on separate floors, so it helps to plan which office you need before arriving. A first-floor cafe offers refreshments, and the second floor has spaces for remote workers.

The building won the Annual AIJ Architectural Select Design Prize in 2019 for its clever use of natural light and locally sourced materials. This recognition shows how Anan blends modern architecture with local resources.
