Serigaya Park, Urban park in Machida, Japan.
Serigaya Park is an urban park in Machida, a city in the southwestern part of the Tokyo metropolitan area, with ponds, water features, and walking paths laid out across the grounds. A windmill structure circulates water through the pools and serves as a visual landmark at the center of the layout.
Machida opened this park in 1982 to give residents of the Tokyo region a place to spend time outdoors. The grounds were later expanded with the addition of the city's museum of graphic arts, which was built directly on the site.
The Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts sits within the grounds and is easy to reach during a walk through the park. Its exhibitions focus on visual art and design, giving the park a creative side that goes beyond a simple green space.
The park is about a half mile (800 meters) from Machida Station and easy to reach on foot from the train. Opening hours change depending on the season, so it is worth checking before you go.
Six Pokemon-themed manhole covers were installed across the park in August 2020, each featuring a different Pokemon design. Finding all six means exploring the full length of the grounds, since they are spread from one end to the other.
