大劇会館, Movie theater in Himeji, Japan
Daigeki was a cinema complex with five separate screening rooms spread across multiple floors in central Himeji. The theaters occupied the first three levels of the building.
The facility first opened in 1955 as Himeji Daigeki and grew to five screens by 1975 during its peak years. The number of theaters was later reduced.
The cinema offered bowling lanes and karaoke rooms alongside film screenings, showing how people in Himeji sought diverse forms of entertainment in one place. These additions reflected popular pastimes that drew different crowds to the building.
The cinema complex stood near JR Himeji Station and Sanyo Himeji Station, making it easily accessible by train. Movie theaters occupied the lower three floors of the five-story building.
After closing in 2015 due to aging infrastructure, the building was demolished and the site remained vacant for several years. This demolition ended a long presence in the city center.
