Himeji City Aquarium

Himeji City Aquarium is a public facility in Tegarayama Central Park organized into three distinct areas for different types of aquatic life. A new building houses freshwater species, the main building features ocean animals, and the rooftop contains a biotope recreating regional water habitats.

The facility underwent major renovations and reopened in 2011 with expanded exhibit spaces and improved visitor areas. This modernization transformed it into a significant educational resource for learning about marine biology in the region.

This aquarium displays the marine life found in the Harima region through exhibits that show how local species live in their natural waters. Visitors see fish and sea creatures that inhabit the coastal areas near the city.

The location sits within a public park and is easy to reach on foot from the nearest train station, making it convenient for families with children. The walking paths are level and well-maintained, allowing for a comfortable visit without obstacles.

The rooftop features Jabujabu Creek, a constructed stream where children can touch and interact directly with fish in a natural creek setting. This hands-on area gives visitors a sense of what local waterways look and feel like up close.
