Beppu Art Museum

The Beppu Art Museum is housed in a contemporary building with multiple exhibition spaces across several levels. The rooms showcase works ranging from modern pieces to classical artworks by both Japanese and international creators.

The museum was originally founded in 1950 and underwent several transformations before its official opening in 1984. It relocated to its current location in March 2022.

The museum displays over 400 artworks from Japanese creators like Yayoi Kusama and international artists including Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso.

The building is easy to access on foot and features clear signage throughout the exhibition areas. Visitors should allow enough time to explore the different levels and note the availability of stairs or elevators.

The museum features a dedicated section exploring the history of Beppu Tower through historical panels and detailed scale models. This corner presents the tower's development across different periods in a visual way.
