Seiyo Temple is a Buddhist temple in Saitama's Midori ward featuring wooden buildings with traditional architecture and over 870 grave plots arranged across the grounds. The temple complex includes a main hall, bell tower, and numerous stone monuments distributed throughout the landscaped site.
The temple was founded in the early Heian period by Jikaku Daishi Ennin, making it a site with over a thousand years of history. During the Edo period, the tomb of Kensho-In, daughter of warlord Takeda Shingen, was established here, adding significant historical importance to the grounds.
The temple grounds display many stone pillars called Koshin-To erected by believers over centuries, revealing how local communities expressed their faith. These monuments reflect the spiritual practices that have remained important in the surrounding neighborhoods.
