Chigasaki Satoyama Park

Chigasaki Satoyama Park is a nature park in the northern highlands of Chigasaki with a large pond, extensive walking paths, and natural vegetation on the slopes. The grounds combine open green spaces with dense wooded sections, creating a mixed landscape.

The park was established in 2001 to protect the traditional landscape shaped by farming communities between mountains and flatland. Its creation preserved an important example of how rural areas developed over generations.

The space shows how farming and wild areas coexist in this traditional Japanese landscape. You walk through open fields, thickets, and patches of forest that people have shaped over time.

The grounds are easy to navigate on foot with clear marked paths, allowing visitors of different abilities to choose their routes. The park operates year-round, and spring and autumn offer the most comfortable conditions for walking.

A 70-meter-long earthen slide built into a natural slope lets children and adults experience the land's topography in a playful way. This blending of recreation with the natural terrain is an unusual design choice that sets the park apart.
