Chihaya Enchi, Nature park at Mount Kongo summit, Chihayaakasaka, Japan.
Chihaya Enchi is a nature park set at the summit of Mount Kongo at 1,050 meters elevation. The site features multiple walking trails through thick forest and viewing areas that overlook Osaka Prefecture.
The park was founded in 1984 to commemorate 100 years of public administration. It became part of the Kongo-Ishikawa-Kisen National Park conservation effort.
The Chihaya Stars and Nature Museum inside the park offers stargazing opportunities and displays about the region's wildlife and plants. Visitors come here to learn about the local ecosystem and the night sky above Osaka.
The park is accessible by taking the Nankai or Kintetsu railway line to Kawachinagano Station, then a bus ride followed by a roughly 70-minute hike. Wear proper hiking shoes since the climb at this elevation requires steady effort.
The temperature here stays about 6 degrees Celsius cooler than in surrounding cities, which causes ice formations to develop during winter months at this highest point in Osaka Prefecture. This microclimate creates a rare opportunity to see winter conditions even when milder seasons arrive.
