Aoyoshi Bridge, Bridge in Tadami, Japan
Aoyoshi Bridge is a steel structure spanning Tagokura Lake with three main sections stretching about 93 meters in length. It crosses National Route 252 and features a roadway width of approximately 8 meters, connecting both lake shores.
This structure was completed in December 2002 as a major transportation link for the remote region. An avalanche caused damage in March 2022, leading to significant reconstruction work.
The bridge serves as a local landmark and is included in the prefecture's Fukushima Bridge Cards series, recognized by residents as a symbol connecting remote village areas.
The area can experience rough weather conditions during winter, making milder seasons the better time to cross or visit. The bridge itself remains open to vehicles and pedestrians throughout the year but offers more comfortable conditions during warmer months.
The structure uses weather-resistant steel that requires less maintenance than typical materials, helping it last longer with fewer repairs. From the bridge, visitors can catch views of the nearby Aiyoshi waterfall, which flows more dramatically during snowmelt season.
