Akao Herb & Rose Garden, Rose and herb garden in Atami, Japan.
The garden features 4,000 roses from 600 varieties and contains 13 distinct themed gardens situated on a hillside overlooking the Sagaminada Sea.
The garden was established in 1988 and designed by landscape architect Nobuo Shirasuna, who created a sequence of gardens incorporating roses, herbs, and cherry trees.
The garden includes a shrine dedicated to the God of Kizuna at its summit, where visitors receive red seals symbolizing connections between family and friends.
Visitors can access the garden via a 15-minute bus ride from Atami Station, with operating hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and admission fees of 4,000 yen.
The garden contains a 5-meter high and 10-meter wide Phoenix Pine, recognized as the largest bonsai tree in the world.
