Yuzen Shrine

Yuzen Shrine sits beside Atami's thermal springs and displays traditional Japanese wooden architecture with red torii gates. The grounds are framed by ancient trees that give the space a calm quality.

This shrine was founded about 1,200 years ago and served for centuries as a worship place for local landowners under the name Kinomiya Daimyojin. Its connection to the thermal springs made it a key spiritual location in Atami's development.

The shrine blends thermal spring reverence with Shinto traditions that visitors can observe through daily rituals and prayers at the site. Local people come here to express gratitude for the water and nature.

The shrine is open to visitors daily and sits just a five-minute walk from the bus stop. You can reach it easily from Atami Station by taxi or using local bus routes that serve the area.

A massive camphor tree that is several thousand years old grows on the temple grounds and draws visitors with its remarkable age and size. The tree connects to a local story about a fisherman who once discovered a sacred statue at this location.
