Monastery of St. Nikolas of Japan in Ajiro, Orthodox monastery in Ajiro, Japan.
The Monastery of St. Nikolas of Japan includes plans for a pilgrims' guest house, library, and candle factory within its architectural design.
The construction of the monastery started after the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church approved the project on July 16, 2005.
The monastery preserves a large altar Gospel in Japanese translation by St. Nicholas, distributed to Orthodox cathedrals across Tokyo, Kyoto, and Sendai.
The religious complex maintains direct access from Ajiro Station and operates under the administration of the Tokyo Eparchy.
The first Divine Liturgy at the monastery occurred during the night of November 23, 2018, lasting until 5:00 AM the following morning.
