熱海ゴルフ倶楽部, Golf course in Atami, Japan
The Atami Golf Club is an 18-hole par-70 course set at 300 meters (980 feet) elevation overlooking Sagami Bay. The facility operates year-round, with GPS-equipped golf carts available to help players navigate the layout.
The course was founded in 1939 and designed by Japanese architect Shiro Akaboshi using traditional hand labor with basic tools. This early construction method reflects how golf courses were built in Japan during that period.
The clubhouse maintains attentive service standards rooted in Japanese hospitality traditions, welcoming players from around the world. After playing, guests can use natural hot spring facilities that reflect the area's geothermal character.
The course sits about eight minutes walk from Atami Station, making it easy to reach without a car. The self-play system lets golfers start whenever they prefer rather than following a fixed tee time schedule.
The course features two different tee positions on each hole, allowing two complete rounds to be played across just nine physical holes on the layout. This doubles the variety of play and lets golfers experience each hole in contrasting ways.
