Seoul Broadcasting System is a television and radio broadcaster based at the Digital Media City complex in Sangam-dong district. The company operates several television and radio channels from its studios in the South Korean capital.
The broadcaster received its license in 1990 following democratic reforms in South Korea. From 1994 onward the company built a nationwide transmission network through partnerships with regional stations.
SBS produces and distributes television dramas, entertainment shows, and news content that reaches audiences across South Korea through ten regional stations.
The main channel broadcasts on digital channel 6 and offers continuous programming around the clock. Content is transmitted across the country through cable, satellite and digital terrestrial systems.
The company was established as the country's second commercial broadcaster after decades of state media control. Today the transmission network reaches all parts of South Korea through ten regional partners.
