Panevėžys

Panevėžys is an urban center in northern Lithuania that spreads across both banks of the Nevezis River. The city functions as a regional commercial and administrative hub with modern districts alongside older neighborhoods.

The settlement received city rights in 1503 from Grand Duke Alexander Jagiellon, establishing it as a formal urban center. Since then it has remained an important location for settlement and trade in northern Lithuania.
