Botanical Garden of Klaipėda University

The Botanical Garden of Klaipėda University is located in a river valley and features four collection areas with conifers, deciduous trees, ornamental plants, and medicinal herbs. The site spreads across a large area where thousands of different plant species from around the world grow.

The garden was founded in 1993 and uses the grounds of a former royal park as its foundation. It has evolved since then into a place of botanical research and environmental education.

The garden displays plants from different climates around the world, inviting visitors on a journey through diverse ecosystems. You walk among exotic species alongside native plants, gaining an appreciation for botanical diversity.

The garden is accessible year-round and offers paths through all four collection areas to explore. Guided tours and educational programs are available through the university and help visitors learn more about the plant diversity.

The garden has been part of the European Route of Historic Pharmacies and Medicinal Gardens since 2024, a network connecting sites with pharmaceutical history. This recognition highlights the garden's role in herbal medicine and scientific research.
