Ozo parkas, Public park in northern Vilnius, Lithuania
Ozo parkas is an 8.5-hectare public park in the Baltupiai district featuring rolling hills, pathways, small lakes, and open meadows. The grounds include outdoor fitness equipment, children's playgrounds, picnic areas, and benches distributed throughout the space.
The park's name comes from a glacial formation called oz, created roughly 16,000 years ago when ice shaped the regional terrain. This geological process left behind the lakes and rolling landscape visible today.
The park serves as a gathering place where locals play disc golf, shoot hoops, and enjoy outdoor activities that are central to how the community uses free time. The different sporting zones reflect what residents value in their neighborhood spaces.
The park is easy to reach and has drinking fountains and seating scattered throughout. Wear comfortable walking shoes since the rolling terrain has slopes, and dry weather makes for the best visit.
Small lakes within the park sit where an ancient Neris River channel once flowed, now creating natural habitats where waterfowl like ducks and moorhens live. These quiet water areas are an overlooked feature that many visitors miss.
