Latvian Railway History Museum

The Latvian Railway History Museum houses locomotives, carriages, equipment, and documents from different periods of rail transport development. The collection also includes materials that show how technology and operations evolved over time.

The museum was founded in 1994 and stands near the first railway line that connected Riga to Daugavpils in 1861. It documents how rail transport shaped the region and how technology advanced over the decades.

The museum holds one of the largest collections of broad gauge rolling stock in the Baltic region, making it a rare destination. These locomotives and carriages show a different technological approach than what visitors typically encounter in Western Europe.
