Latvijas Universitātes Zinātņu māja, Research facility at University of Latvia campus in Tornakalns, Latvia.
The House of Science is a modern research building on the University of Latvia campus with seven above-ground floors and one basement level. It contains laboratories, lecture halls, and seminar rooms designed to support teaching and research across multiple scientific disciplines.
Construction began in summer 2017 following an agreement between the University of Latvia and the LNK Industries Group. The project was developed to provide modern research facilities as the university expanded its academic work.
The building brings together researchers and students from physics, mathematics, and medicine in shared spaces, creating daily interaction between different scientific fields. This arrangement allows informal exchanges that often spark collaboration across disciplines.
The building features automated heating and ventilation systems that keep the interior comfortable throughout the year. Visitors can navigate easily thanks to a logical layout with clear zones for different departments and facilities.
The building uses smart technology that automatically adjusts lighting, heating, and ventilation based on usage patterns to reduce energy consumption. This intelligent system works quietly in the background, making the facility more environmentally responsible.
