Anambra International Cargo Airport, airport in Nigeria
Anambra International Cargo Airport is located in Umueri, a town in Anambra State, and serves both passenger and cargo flights. It features wide asphalt runways and a functional terminal with check-in and waiting areas, equipped with clear signage and open spaces.
Construction began in April 2017 and was completed by October 2021, when the airport was officially opened by Anambra State's governor. It began serving passenger and cargo flights shortly after opening, and was later renamed after writer Chinua Achebe in October 2023.
The airport bears the name of Chinua Achebe, a prominent writer from the region, since October 2023, which brings pride to local people. This naming reflects the connection between the modern transport hub and the region's literary heritage.
Roads to the airport are smooth and easy to drive on, and the area offers plenty of open space for parking. Visitors can use taxis and ride-sharing services at the airport, and free wireless internet is available by connecting to CAICA-NCC-ARRIVAL or CAICA-NCC-DEPARTURE.
In its first month of operation, the airport handled around 1,500 flights carrying thousands of passengers, showing quick local adoption. A new emergency fire truck was delivered in June 2022 to support rapid response services on the grounds.
