Landgoed Heuven

Landgoed Heuven is an expansive estate covering more than 100 hectares of natural landscape, featuring ancient beech forests, open meadows, and two preserved traditional sheepfolds. Walking paths wind through the different areas, connecting visitors to various parts of the grounds.

The estate traces its origins to 1379 when it was known as Ter Hoeve and passed through several noble families over centuries. At the end of the 1700s, Willem van Sadelhoff acquired the property and shaped its future development.

The estate holds a Norwegian log house from 1903, a prefabricated structure that was gifted to a family member and reflects the international connections of wealthy households in the early 1900s. Such architectural imports show how global trade and personal relationships shaped country estates.

The estate is accessible through the De Ruif restaurant area, which provides parking and serves as a starting point for exploring the grounds. The paths are well-marked for self-guided visits and suitable for people of varying fitness levels.

The grounds contain remnants of a 17th-century game wall that ran between this estate and neighboring Landgoed Beekhuizen. This surviving structure is a rare trace of the historical hunting grounds that once defined the Arnhem region.
