Bamban Bridge, Road bridge in Central Luzon, Philippines.
Bamban Bridge is a road bridge in Central Luzon that spans about 174 meters across the Sacobia River. It connects the municipalities of Bamban in Tarlac and Mabalacat in Pampanga, serving as a key traffic point along the MacArthur Highway.
The bridge was constructed between 1996 and 1998 to help rebuild the region after the Mount Pinatubo eruption of 1991. It was part of broader reconstruction programs aimed at restoring damaged infrastructure.
The Department of Public Works and Highways maintains this essential infrastructure, which represents Philippine engineering advancement in transportation development.
Pedestrians and vehicles use this two-lane bridge daily on the MacArthur Highway. Sidewalks are available for foot traffic and regular lanes serve cars and other vehicles.
The structure uses a rare design system called Nielsen-Lohse with a basket handle form. This makes it one of the longest known structures of this particular design worldwide.
