Magalang Church, Catholic parish church in Magalang, Philippines.
The San Bartolome Parish Church is a religious building featuring baroque style with three interior aisles and a two-story bell tower built from stone masonry. The structure displays characteristic features of Philippine baroque architecture with its solid construction and decorative details.
Construction began around 1725 and was advanced by Father Ramon Sarrionandia in the late 1700s. The artistic completion of the facade came much later in 1875 under Father Baltasar Gamarra.
The church name honors Saint Bartholomew and reflects the deep devotion the local community holds for this saint. You can see this devotion expressed through the religious decorations and celebrations that mark the building throughout the year.
The church is located in Barangay San Nicolas I and is accessible during regular worship services. Visitors should follow standard religious etiquette and wear appropriate clothing if entering during masses.
Two large bells were installed in 1889 and 1890 and produce a particularly clear and far-reaching sound. The distinctive bell tone can be heard across the town and has made this site an acoustic landmark.
