Mońki County encompasses 1,382 square kilometers of northeastern Poland, containing seven gminas and three main towns: Mońki, Knyszyn, and Goniądz.
The county originated in 1954 as an administrative district, dissolved in 1975, and later re-established in 1999 during Poland's local government reforms.
The county features traditional agricultural practices, with the town of Mońki organizing annual potato celebrations that reflect the region's farming heritage.
The national road DK65 connects the county's population of 40,518 residents to major urban centers, including the regional capital Białystok, located 40 kilometers southeast.
