Brzeźno is a district on the northern coast of Gdańsk that stretches along the Bay of Gdańsk. The area features a sandy beach, residential neighborhoods, parks, and a waterfront promenade connecting it to other parts of the city.
The area was first recorded as Bresno in 1323 and remained under Cistercian control from Oliwa monastery for over 600 years. From the 19th century onward, it transformed from a fishing village into a popular beach destination.
The name comes from a Slavic word for birch trees, reflecting the area's original wooded landscape. Today, visitors and residents use the beach and parks for outdoor recreation and leisure throughout the year.
