Wzgórze Kapliczne, Historical church on Chapel Hill in Wrocław, Poland
Wzgórze Kapliczne is a church building on an artificial hill in the Osobowice district of Wrocław. The chapel stands at approximately 120 meters above sea level and houses a wooden statue dating from around 1600.
The site shows evidence of settlement by the Lusatian culture from the 7th to 5th century BC. The current religious structure was built much later on this historically significant location.
The chapel is dedicated to Our Lady and holds deep meaning for local residents as a place of devotion. You can observe how people gather here for personal prayer and reflection throughout the year.
The chapel can be reached by climbing the artificial hill and offers views of the surrounding area. Visitors should know that regular Sunday masses are held here, with a special celebration on the first Sunday after September 12th.
Beneath the chapel lies a crypt containing Johann Gottlieb Korn, a Protestant benefactor who supported this Catholic place of worship. His presence reflects an unusual connection between different religious communities at this site.
