Partisan Monument in Warsaw, Bronze monument at Smolna Street corner, Warsaw, Poland
The Partisan Monument features a wounded fighter supported by a woman extending an olive branch, cast in bronze on a granite pedestal.
The monument was unveiled on May 13, 1962, marking twenty years since the first People's Guard unit marched under Franciszek Zubrzycki's command.
The sculpture draws inspiration from traditional religious art forms, particularly referencing the composition and emotional depth of classical pietà representations.
The monument stands at the intersection of Smolna Street and Aleje Jerozolimskie, near the former Polish United Workers' Party headquarters.
The granite base of the monument comes from the demolished Hindenburg Mausoleum, which was originally constructed during the Third Reich period.
