Holy Trinity church in Łopuszna

Holy Trinity church in Łopuszna, Gothic wooden church in Łopuszna, Poland

The Holy Trinity Church is a wooden house of worship with a three-part single-nave layout comprising a chancel, wider main nave, and bell tower. The entire structure was built from fir wood and retains this characteristic timber construction to the present day.

The structure was built in the 1490s and was consecrated in 1504 by Bishop Jan of Kraków, replacing an earlier building on the site. This founding phase marks the beginning of its role as a lasting place of worship in the region.

The church's name reflects the Holy Trinity devotion that still guides the parish community and shapes local religious life today. Visitors can sense how this spiritual tradition continues to give meaning to the place.

The building sits on a slope along Gorczańska Street and remains an active parish church within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kraków. Visitors should keep in mind that this is a functioning place of worship where services are held regularly.

The interior houses a valuable triptych from 1460 and fragments of paintings from the 16th century that document medieval religious artistry. These works reveal the artistic standards maintained in rural churches of Lesser Poland.
