St. Michael Archangel's Church in Dębno, Gothic wooden church in Dębno, Poland

St. Michael Archangel's Church in Dębno is a wooden structure built in Gothic style with vertical log construction and decorated throughout with painted elements. The building stands as a medieval example of religious architecture and is now protected as a heritage monument.

Construction began in 1490 during the height of Gothic religious building in the region. The structure has undergone careful restoration work over the centuries to maintain its medieval character.

The painted walls inside show religious scenes and decorative patterns that reflect what people in the village believed and valued over centuries. These designs are still visible today and help visitors understand how faith shaped everyday life in this community.

The church can be visited as part of the Wooden Architecture Trail, and it is best to check opening times in advance. The village setting makes it easy to walk around and approach the building naturally.

This is the only Gothic wooden building in the Podhale region that has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This recognition gives it international significance as an example of medieval timber craftsmanship.
