Żar, Mountain summit in Little Beskids, Poland
Żar is a mountain summit in the Little Beskids with an elevation of 761 meters. A cable car operates year-round to carry visitors from the base to the top.
A pumped-storage hydroelectric facility was built on the mountain and completed in 1979. This installation has provided crucial energy capacity to the surrounding region since its opening.
The mountain serves as a center for outdoor recreation, where locals gather for hiking, mountain biking, and winter sports activities.
The cable car provides convenient year-round access regardless of weather conditions. Once at the top, visitors can hike various trails or use the downhill routes for descent.
Hidden beneath the mountain lies a large reservoir that holds millions of cubic meters of water at high elevation. This concealed infrastructure remains invisible to most visitors yet fundamentally shapes the mountain's structure.
