Cipki, Mountain hamlet in Suche, Poland
Cipki is a small mountain village in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship situated at approximately 769 meters in elevation. The settlement is positioned near where the Poroniec and Suchy Potok streams converge.
The village was administratively part of Nowy Sącz Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. It was later transferred to the Lesser Poland region.
The settlement's name originated from traditional lace-making practices that were common among the local inhabitants of this mountainous area.
The village serves as a starting point for hiking trails through the Tatra Mountains and sits only about 6 kilometers from the major tourist hub of Zakopane. This proximity makes it convenient for day trips in the surrounding region.
In 2023, local residents requested that authorities remove the settlement's name from official maps due to potential problematic interpretations. This unusual decision reflects how communities can shape their official representation.
