Opaliński castle in Sieraków, Medieval castle museum in Sieraków, Poland.
Opaliński castle in Sieraków is a former residence with stone walls and architectural elements from multiple building periods. The southern wing operates as a museum displaying collections related to the region's development and heritage.
The original fortified structure was built in 1397 as a stronghold in the area. During the 17th century, noble families including the Nałęcz and Opaliński modified and expanded the building according to their needs.
The castle displays objects from different periods that tell the story of the region and its people. These items offer insight into daily life and the development of the area over centuries.
The museum is located northwest of Poznań and can be reached at Stadnina 3a street. Visitors can take part in guided tours to explore the collections and building.
The ground floor displays rare 17th-century tin and copper sarcophagi belonging to the Opaliński family, discovered during excavations in a former crypt in 1991. These metal coffins are remarkably well preserved and demonstrate the metalworking skills of their era.
